さて

 一番最初に訪ねたノーラン・ブッシュネルはアタリでジョブズと一緒に働いたこともあり前向きに資金提供を検討していました。
ただ、その時は自身の会社であるアタリをワーナー・コミュニケーションズに売って、チャック・E・チーズ・ピザ・タイム・シアターを買い取り、この経営に専念していたためお金も時間も余裕がなかったために断念しました。
ですので、正解はチャック・E・チーズ・ピザ・タイム・シアターの経営が忙しかったためです。

さて

夫婦の名前それぞれをビルの名前にするのは後々のことを考えると結構勇気のいることですが、まだその夫婦は仲良くしているので大丈夫そうです。
スタンフォード大学のビルの名前は基本的には大学に寄付してくれた人の名前をビルの名前にする場合が多く、ビルゲイツビルディングやデイビッドパッカードビルディングなど、どこかで聞いたことのある人たちの名前になっています。

そして今回は、その名前が夫婦の名前なので、夫の名前と嫁の名前がそれぞれ書いてあります。
ですので、ビルの名前としてはかなり長くなってしまうのですが、夫婦の名前が大学のビルの名前になるのは思い出に残る方法ですね。

今回はかなり昔のものを取り上げたいと思います。

では、

シリコンバレーにおいて鉱山を発掘するというと、ビジネスでひと儲けをするという意味になると思いますが、シリコンバレーがビジネスで盛んになる前は本当の意味でのゴールドラッシュがあったのです。

まずはマッキントッシュプロジェクトについて少し。
これは誰が始めたかというと、スティーブジョブズがはじめたように思えますが、そうではなくジェフラスキンという方が始めたプロジェクトです。

最近LinuxOSのUbuntu10.04をいれてみました。今まで8.04だったのですが、それだとブラウザからの音が出なかったり、キーボードの配列がちょっと違ったりと、ちょっとした不具合があったのですが、10.04はそんなことはなく違和感なく使うことができて、使いやすくなりました。
メインのOSとして使っても問題ないのではないかと今のところ思っています。

それでは今回もOracleに関する問題を出したいと思います。

今回もOracleという単語が出てこなかったのですが、今回はOracleの問題です。
1977年にエリソンがアンペックス時代に一緒に働いていたボブ･マイナーとエド・オーツに声をかけて会社を作ったのですが、その時の会社名はOracleではなく、Software Development Laboratoriesという名前だったのですね。
ちなみに、その後の名前は
1979年にRelational Software, Inc.

シリコンバレークイズと言いながらアップル関係の問題が多く、少し偏っている傾向がありますので今回はOracleに関する問題を出したいと思います。

では

「サンマテオ橋のすぐ南にあるサンカルロス空港のIATA空港コードのアルファベット3文字はなんでしょう？」

一応分かる人にはわかると思いますが、Oracle関連の問題です。
そもそも空港コードは、アルファベット3文字または4文字からなる2種類があります。3文字からなるものを3レターコード（IATAコード）、4文字のものを4レターコード（ICAOコード）などというみたいです。
基本的に使うのは3文字のものだと思います。
例えばサンフランシスコ国際空港はSFOと言い、成田国際空港はNRTと言います。
結構空港の看板とかでNRTと見たことがあると思いますが、それがIATA空港コードというやつです。

そこで問題のサンカルロス空港ですが、どこにあるのかというとここにいあります。

ですので答えはOraclのデータベースで扱うコンピュータ言語のSQLです。

昨日のイングランド対ドイツはいろいろと大変でしたね。
疑惑のノーゴールがあったり、ドイツのカウンターの正確さやスピードが凄かったです。

ちなみに、疑惑のノーゴールはいろいろと検証してみると、こんな感じで収まっています。

ちなみに、デジタル・ナンバープレートは赤信号や渋滞で車が４秒以上停止すると企業の広告などを流す電光掲示板に切り替るというもので、その車の後ろにいる人とかがマクドナルドやコカコーラのようなロゴを見れるものです。
そのうち、Googleとかが何かやらかしそうですね。

本題に戻って、答えはAppleのCEOスティーブジョブズです。
さすがのジョブズも結構いい車に乗っているのですね。

まあ、今回もジョブズが持ち方を変えろ言っているので、仕方なく持ち方を変えるしかありませんね。

intelというパソコン部品メーカーはCPUなどで有名ですが、intelに決まる前の名前はなんでしょう。


答えはまたこんどになります。

追記

遅くなりましたが、解答を書いていきます。

intelはロバート・ノイスとゴードン・ムーアの2人によって設立された会社ですが、もともと彼らはショックレー研究所で働いていました。しかしその経営力のなさに絶望し、フェアチャイルドセミコンダクターという会社を作り、その後intelを設立したのです。

その問題の会社名ですが、当初ノイスとムーアの頭文字を取ってNM electronicsという名前で進んでいったのですが、何か在り来りなので、インテリジェントに似たIntegrated electronicsという名前をムーアが考え、そして、ノイスが２つをくっつけてIntelにしたのです。

ちなみに、創立当初のintelのロゴは、eが下がっているところがポイントですね。これはIntegrated electronicsの略であることをわかりやすくするためのものなのです。
また、半導体が指数的に成長して行くイメージをするために、自然対数の底を表す意図もあったらしいです。


なので　答えは　NM electronics　ですね。
ただ、NM electronicsで検索しても英語のwikiぐらいしかintelが出てこない・・・
